What Is Serranova? It is a new, year-round, immersive recreation of Upper Paleolithic life—circa 30,000 BCE—set on 50 acres in Southern Maine, for people who love the outdoors and are tired of the same old vacations and modern life.
Part “Renaissance Faire” meets Old Sturbridge Village, or a primitive skills school meets a membership-based LARP community—but set 30,000 years earlier and less formal. You can come and ago any time, get immersed as long as you want, and develop your own “territory” for 6 or 12 months. There’s nothing else like it, your own affordable basecamp in Maine.

We built a 60×60 genuine timber frame Barn and three cottages. We have 50 acres of forests, fields, and trails to build Serranova on.
Autumn colors. The Barn holds 180 people at a time. Year-round comfort with AC and radiant floor heating and has a full commercial kitchen.
The Experience
Live as a Gravettian-era human. Try out stone tools (maybe make your own). Make and wear animal hides, furs, and plant-fiber clothing. Go barefoot. Cook over open flames. Rest under a shelter you built with your own hands. Learn new skills from your tribe. Tell stories at a bonfire under the stars with other like-minded people.
Your own territory. Each member picks their own 2,000 sq. ft. plot of forested land (up to 50 ft × 40 ft area) to build a primitive shelter, workshop, treehouse, or garden—using natural materials. This territory is yours for 6 or 12 months—to create, to work, to enjoy. Use Serranova as a base to explore Maine.
Come and go freely. Drive up on a Friday night, leave Sunday. Or stay for a week. Visit once a month or visit most of the year. Your membership means unlimited access—you decide how deep to go into “Paleolithic life”. Bring friends and family and have fun it together.
Learn from each other. Serranova is built on activities and skill-sharing. Learn fire-making, knapping, bow-and-arrow crafting, leather tanning, and fermentation from experienced practitioners. Or teach what you know to eager apprentices. The community is the curriculum.
Find your people. Gather around evening bonfires under the stars. Share stories and songs. Compete in wrestling and archery, and spear throwing. Cook and eat together. Form friendships with people who finally understand why the deep past matters to you.
Modern amenities when you need them. A heated timber-frame barn with 33-foot ceilings. Three cottages with heat, AC, kitchens, showers, and beds. Hot showers. Bathrooms. WiFi. Your car in the parking lot ready for you to explore Maine.
